Il 13 ottobre uscirà Lontano, un album breve composto da 4 canzoni che lancia il mio progetto musicale da solista.
Le canzoni di questo EP e altre che pubblicherò più avanti sono state scritte in un lungo periodo in cui sono stato lontano. Lontano dagli altri; e lontano da me stesso. Dove la musica è sempre stato un tentativo fragile di mantenere un contatto con le mie emozioni. È per pura coincidenza che questo lavoro venga fuori in un momento in cui, per forze maggiori, lontani siamo costretti ad esserlo tutti quanti. Ma, come questa lontananza fisica ci sta insegnando ad essere più vicini, cosi forse siamo in tanti a sentirci lontani quando il mondo corre invece al suo pieno ritmo.
Ho deciso ora di mettermi a nudo attraverso questo nuovo progetto solista, non tanto perché la mia lontananza sia del tutto esaurita, ma certamente con la volontà di essere più vicino. Lo faccio tentando di rompere il guscio Folk in cui mi sono covato musicalmente per tanto tempo con il gruppo Marichka Connection, alla ricerca di nuovi territori. Inauguro la schiusa attraverso questo EP, realizzato con la preziosa collaborazione del cantautore e produttore torinese Paolo Rigotto. L’EP si chiama Lontano e include le canzoni Sparirò, L’Eremita, Lontano e il Salto.
Ringrazio i musicisti che mi hanno donato il loro tempo per la realizzazione dell’EP: Daniele Cappucci, contrabbassista Jazz; Ariella De Gennaro, violinista, già fondatrice dei Marichka Connection; Roberta Rizzo, cantante di samba e bossanova torinese; Léo Fuster, violinista folk coi Marichka Connection e polistrumentista nel duo sperimentale francese Reykjavik Counterpoint; Thomas Francois, pianista e cantautore belga; Stefano Capone, bassista dei Marichka Connection e tecnico del suono che, in extremis ha trasformato la difficoltà di nascere in un salto.
L’avventura di Lontano comincia un anno e mezzo quando amici cari mi diedero una spinta nel fare il primo passo, capitanate dalla mia splendida Alessia Cogliandro. I inaugurate the birth of my new musical project with the song "Sparirò" (“I will disappear”) which anticipates the release of the EP “Lontano” (“Far away”).
I have written the songs of this EP and others that I will release later in a period where I have felt far away for long. Far from others; and away from myself. Where music has always been a fragile attempt to keep in touch with my emotions. It is by pure coincidence that this work comes out at a time when, due to force majeure, we are forced to be all far away.
I have now decided to share more intimate songs through this new solo project. I do this by trying to break the Folk shell in which I have musically grown; and by exploring new territories. I inaugurate the hatching through this EP, made with the precious collaboration of the Turin singer-songwriter and producer Paolo Rigotto. The EP is called Lontano (far away) and includes the songs "Sparirò" ("I will disappear"), "L’Eremita" ("the hermit"), "Lontano" ("far away") and "il Salto" ("the jump").
I thank the musicians who gave me their time for the realization of the EP: Daniele Cappucci, Jazz double bass player; Ariella De Gennaro, violinist, former founder of Marichka Connection; Roberta Rizzo, bossanova singer from Turin; Léo Fuster, folk violinist with Marichka Connection and multi-instrumentalist in the French experimental duo Reykjavik Counterpoint; Thomas Francois, Belgian pianist and songwriter; Stefano Capone, bass player of Marichka Connection and sound technician who, in extremis, has transformed the difficulty of hatching into a “jump”.
